central florida bears

I think it’s amazing what kinds of animals we have here in Central Florida. The armadillos, raccoons, and deer don’t surprise me. The boar we hear at night in the woods or see every once in a while is a treat. The tropical birds we see often is cool. A gator sighting is always fun.

Then there are the rare occasions you see a bald eagle, a hawk in the back yard, or even a bobcat (I saw him twice several years ago). Not to mention all sorts of bugs and snakes.

But black bears always impresses me. I’ve seen them before near Jacksonville on the side of I-95, but never in Central Florida. But there are at least 3 that live just 15 miles from my house. And they live in the neighborhoods! But the three are being tagged and studied. It’s just so wild (pun intended)!

  • I go to Central Florida All the time. I have friends in Palm Bay, Satellite Beach, Merritt Island, and Daytona Beach. I can't wait to get the hell out of South Florida. It has officially gotten Old.
