happy hogmanay
I learned a new word today: hogmanay
Hogmanay \hog-muh-NAY; HOG-muh-nay\, noun:
The name, in Scotland, for New Year’s Eve, on which children go about singing and asking for gifts; also, a gift, cake, or treat given on New Year’s Eve.
Scotland sounds fun. I wonder if they do Halloween too? Maybe I’ll go ask a neighbor for some cake today. Oh wait, I’m in Florida, not Scotland. Drat.
UPDATE: Oops. Just found out the Presbyterians don’t like hogmanay.

Well — so much for my enjoing hogmanay!
